What a day!

Moments ago, the 9th Circuit wrapped up oral arguments in the landmark case challenging Nevada’s marriage ban—and to say that today was incredible would be an understatement.

It was powerful to watch as the legal team representing eight loving same-sex couples from across the state stood before the Court to show that Nevada’s marriage ban harms tens of thousands of families every single day.

Today, thanks to these brave plaintiff couples, we’re one BIG step closer to winning marriage equality in Nevada.

With courts around the country ruling on marriage, you may be wondering what makes today’s oral arguments different. What would a 9th Circuit ruling in favor of marriage in Nevada actually mean?

In short: it could mean a lot. If the 9th Circuit strikes down Nevada’s marriage ban, Governor Sandoval and Attorney General Cortez-Mastro have already said they won’t appeal. That means a favorable ruling from the 9th Circuit could pave the way for same-sex couples to marry in Nevada shortly after—and for the freedom to marry to be law once and for all.

We’re closer than ever. Now let’s cross the finish line, together.
